Designers throw around terminology that sometimes makes one feel in need of survival tactics to know what’s being said. The focus of this programming is to have fun and at the same time be a little educational with the language designers use. Some of the language designers use such as “form follows function” and “post modern” are classic design expressions and have become known by the general public, albeit misunderstood and often misused. While other terminology used by designers is often only understood by other designers. We thought it would be fun to let people know what some of these terms mean so they could speak design too.
Here’s the premise: You never know when you’re going to run into a designer at a party or some other social event. You might even need to hire or work with a designer as part of your job or your personal life. Now you’ll be able to speak their language! Well, at least you’ll have a better idea of what they’re trying to say.
